This reflects the muscle's capability to act quickly by experiencing cycles of contraction and relaxation that lead to maximum frequency. In the context of karate, having good speed in throwing punches is crucial because increasing punching speed is a key factor in achieving points or scores. This also applies to the gyaku tsuki chudan punch technique.

Method. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of using rubber training on gyaku-tsuki punch speed among karate practitioners. The research method used is descriptive. The sampling approach chosen was total sampling with a population of karate athletes, where the number of samples taken was 12 people. The instrument used to collect data was the Gyaku-tsuki punch speed test. The results of this study indicate a significant impact of rubber training on gyaku-tsuki attack speed among athletes.

Result. This finding is supported by the calculation of the t-table value from rubber training which indicates the gyaku-tsuki punch speed is 7.05. Comparisons were made to the t-table values obtained at the significance level α = 0.05 with 12-3 degrees of freedom (df = 9), which had a value of 1.83. This shows that the calculated t value of 7.05 exceeds the t table value of 1.83.

Conclusion. Therefore, the conclusion of the research is that rubber training has a significant impact on the speed of gyaku-tsuki punches in athletes.
Nava Oktavia, Naluri Denay, Desi Purnama Sari Copyright (c) 2023 International Martial Arts and Culture Journal https://imacj.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/imacj/article/view/10 Sun, 31 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Effectiveness between Static Stretching and Kneading Massage on Lowering Heart Rate among University Silat athletes https://imacj.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/imacj/article/view/8
Background. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of static stretching versus kneading massage in lowering heart rate (HR) recovery among silat athletes.

Method. Forty male subjects aged 18-25 years old were divided into two groups: the static stretching group (CG) and the kneading massage group (EG), both of which participated in this study. The subjects completed pre- and post-test sessions involving a 3-minute step-up box test followed by a recovery treatment program aimed at lowering heart rate, enabling the performance of heart rate monitor (HRM) tests immediately after treatment. Analysis of the recovery treatment program revealed significant differences in both groups regarding heart rate reduction.

Result. This study indicated that the percentage of heart rate recovery for the kneading massage group (EG) was 33%, compared to 21% in the static stretching group (CG). The results demonstrated that the kneading massage group (48.30 + 8.51 bpm) achieved a greater reduction in heart rate compared to the static stretching group (27.80 + 6.90 bpm) due to the respective treatments.

Conclusions. The research concludes that kneading massage is a more effective treatment than static stretching for enhancing the recovery of silat athletes in a short period of time.
Muhammad Haziq Mat Sani, Muhamad Nizam Mohamad Shapie, Nurul Ihsan, Ardo Okilanda, Juanda Putra, Hazim Samsudin, Nasru Syazwan Nawai Copyright (c) 2023 International Martial Arts and Culture Journal https://imacj.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/imacj/article/view/8 Sun, 31 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000 Profil Physical Condition and Technique Tae Kwon Do Police Padang https://imacj.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/imacj/article/view/6
Background. This research aims to determine the physical condition and techniques of Padang Police Taekwondo Athletes. The aim of this research is to carry out a comparison test on previous research and to find out the dominant technical actions in the 2023 Sea Games Cambodia elite level pencak silat competition which uses the new PERSILAT 2022 regulations.

Method. This research method uses a quantitative approach based on observation-surveys on 9 elite athletes , 5 athletes in the men's category and 4 athletes in the women's category in pencak silat competitions from the preliminary round, semi-finals to the final. Data was collected through observing match videos by recording all technical actions (punches, kicks and falls) and analyzed using the SPSS application.

Result. The research results showed that the comparison test from previous research had a side kick technique with a percentage value of 24%, a front kick had a percentage value of 18% and a slam technique had a percentage value of 28%. Therefore, this value is very significant and different from the results of previous research. In the 2022 PERSILAT regulations, the throwing technique is the dominant technique that is often used during pencak silat competitions. This can be seen from the overall percentage of athletes' techniques where slamming gets a score of 28%.

Conclusion. The conclusions of this research can be a reference for coaches and pencak silat practitioners in preparing training program sessions by considering changes in each match and the effectiveness of athletes' tactics to achieve optimal performance.
Febri Yulianto, Nur Subekti, Cahniyo Wijaya Kuswanto; Muhammad Fiqri Copyright (c) 2023 International Martial Arts and Culture Journal https://imacj.ppj.unp.ac.id/index.php/imacj/article/view/7 Sun, 31 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000
