Guidelines for Responsible AI Use
International Martial Arts and Culture Journal (IMAJC)
For Authors
1. Ethical and Responsible Use
Authors must transparently disclose any use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools at any stage of the research process, including data collection, data analysis, or writing support. Appropriate acknowledgment must be provided for any AI-assisted or AI-generated content incorporated into the manuscript.
Authors are required to comply with applicable privacy and data protection regulations and must obtain informed consent when AI tools are used to process personal or sensitive data.
It is the responsibility of authors to identify, assess, and mitigate potential biases associated with AI systems to ensure that research outcomes remain fair, valid, and objective.
All AI-assisted content must adhere to existing intellectual property and copyright regulations.
2. AI in Research Methodology and Data Analysis
Authors should critically evaluate the suitability of AI tools in relation to their research objectives, particularly with regard to accuracy, reliability, and relevance to the fields of martial arts, coaching, and sports science.
Any results produced with AI assistance must be verified through established scientific procedures to ensure rigor, validity, and reproducibility.
The journal encourages the use of interpretable and explainable AI models to enhance methodological transparency and support a clear understanding of research findings.
3. Academic Integrity and Originality
All forms of AI assistance must be clearly acknowledged in accordance with accepted academic citation and ethical standards.
Manuscripts submitted to IMAJC must represent the authors’ original intellectual contributions, critical analysis, and scholarly creativity, and must not be predominantly generated by AI tools.
4. Transparency in Peer Review and Collaboration
Authors are expected to disclose the use of AI tools during the peer review process and in all research collaborations to ensure transparency and constructive academic communication.
Collaborative research teams are encouraged to establish clear agreements at the outset of the project regarding AI usage, data management, and authorship attribution.
For Reviewers
Reviewers must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Uploading manuscripts, in whole or in part, to AI tools may compromise confidentiality, intellectual property rights, and data privacy, particularly when personal or sensitive information is involved. Reviewers remain fully responsible for the content and integrity of their evaluations.
For Editors
Editors are required to maintain strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not upload them to generative AI tools, in order to safeguard privacy, confidentiality, and intellectual property rights.
